MY ORIGINS

I took my degree in physics in 1965, with a dissertation in theoretical computer science whose tutor was Corrado Bohm, who taught me the importance of formal methods in informatics.

I was then working in epidemiology for some years, following the unforgettable example of Giulio Maccacaro, from which I learned to be sensible of the influence of political power on science organisation.
