Position

Phd. Student

Qualification

First level degree "laurea triennale" with full marks and honors in Computer Science from the University of Bari (12 October 2005). He discussed a thesis on "Export process plan into XPDL".
Master degree "laurea Specialistica" with full marks and honors in Computer Science from the University of Bari (10 October 2007). He discussed a thesis on "Analysis, Design and Development of a KDD Server: Server Side " (supervisor of laurea thesis: prof. Donato Malerba).

Academic career

From 2 January 2008: Ph. D. student in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science, University of Bari, with Professor Donato Malerba as supervisor.

Awards and prizes

February 2008: "Antonino Sarzana" prize sponsored by UniCredit Bank for bests students graduated in the academic year 2006-07 coming from the differents Faculties of University of Bari.
June 2008: "Best Student Paper Award" prize for the paper "KD-ASP A distributed collaborative data mining platform". Proceeding of the Sixteenth Italian Symposium on Advanced Database Systems (SEBD 2008), Mondello (PA).

Thesis

The "laurea" thesis was on the analysis, design and development of a web-service oriented architecture for a knowledge discovery server. Part of his thesis has been published both in the proceedings of the Sixteenth Italian Symposium on Advanced Database Systems (SEBD 2008, awarded as the best student paper) and in the proceedings of the International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM 2008). Recent developments have also been presented at the Innovation Fair organized under the auspices of the Apulia Region (December 2008).
