Antonio Piccinno is currently Associate Professor of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at the Computer Science Department of the University of Bari Aldo Moro (UNIBA).
He received the Laurea Degree in Computer Science with full marks and honors from the University of Bari in 2001. In March 2005 he got the PhD in Computer Science from UNIBA, discussing a thesis titled "Software environments for supporting End-User Development".
Since April 2005, he worked at the Computer Science Department of UNIBA, first as research fellow, next as Assistant Professor and now as Associate Professor.
He is founding member of the IVU (Interaction, Visualization, Usability & UX) Lab of the University of Bari, where he coordinates research on the interplay between Human-Computer Interaction and Software Engineering though techniques of End-User Development.
During January-March 2008 he has been visiting scientist at the Center for LifeLong Learning and Design (L3D) - Department of Computer Science and Institute of Cognitive Science, University of Colorado at Boulder (USA).
He has performed several shorter visits to international research institutions, collaborating with colleagues that are co-authors of some of his publications.

His research interests focus on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), specifically: Human-Centered Design (HCD), End-User Development (EUD), Adaptive Interfaces, Adaptive Multimedial and Multimodal Interaction, Interplay between Human-Computer Interaction and Software Engineering and, more recently, Secure software analysis and design.
He is, or has been, involved in the design, development and evaluation of software frameworks and methodologies for applying End-User Development in various domains and context, recently in ambient intelligence applied to the smart home.
He is author and co-author of about 90 papers published in journals, international conferences and collections.

He has collaborated to the network of excellence on End-User Development "EUD-Net IST-2001-37470", funded by the European Community, of which the Department of Computer Science of the University of Bari has been managing node. He also collaborated to other projects: IST-1999-12641 "FAIRWIS - Trade Fair Web-based Information Services" (during 2000-2001) and IST-2001-34290 "FairsNet - On-line Solutions for Trade Fairs" (during 2002-2003), funded by the European Community; DE_VISU project (during 2001-2002), funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research.

He is in the Steering Committee of EUSSET, a European networked organizational forum dedicated to the development of technological tools and infrastructures that incorporate a human-centred design perspective, and of the International Symposium on End-User Development (IS-EUD).

He has been involved in the scientific organization of several conferences:
