Curriculum Vitae et Studiorum
Antonio Piccinno is currently assistant professor at the Computer Science Department of the
University of Bari.
He received a Laurea Degree with full marks and honors in Computer Science from the University
of Bari in July 2001, discussing a thesis on "web site personalization", under the
supervision of Prof. Maria Francesca Costabile.
In 2001 he worked as research collaborator of the Department of Computer Science working on
the FAIRWIS IST-1999-12641 project, funded by the European Community.
From November 2001 to October 2004 he was PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Bari.
In March 2005 he got the PhD, discussing a thesis titled "Software environments for supporting End-User Development".
From April 2005 to April 2009, he has been research collaborator at the Computer Science Department of the
University of Bari.
His research interests focus on End-User Development,
Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Interactive Systems,
Theory of Visual Languages, Component-Based Software Development, WWW Interfaces,
Multimodal and Multimedia Interaction, Adaptive Interfaces.
He has collaborated to the network of excellence on End-User Development
“EUD-Net IST-2001-37470”, funded by the European Community, of which the Department of
Computer Science of the University of Bari has been managing node. He also collaborated to
other projects: IST-1999-12641 "FAIRWIS - Trade Fair Web-based Information Services" (during 2000-2001) and IST-2001-34290 "FairsNet - On-line Solutions for Trade
Fairs" (during 2002-2003), funded by the European Community; DE_VISU project (during
2001-2002), funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research.
He is Program Co-Chair of the third International Symposium on End-User Development (IS-EUD 2011) that will be in Torre Canne (Brindisi), Italy in June 2011. He was in the scientific secretariat of the
International Conference AVI (Advanced Visual Interfaces), held in Gallipoli (Lecce), Italy,
in May 2004. He collaborated to the local organization and to the editing of the proceedings of the international conference
INTERACT 2005, held in Rome, Italy, in September 2005.
He is member of ACM (Association of Computing Machinery),
ACM SIGCHI (ACM's Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction)
and SIGCHI Italy (the Italian Chapter of ACM SIGCHI).
