Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery:
statistical and logical foundations, predictive and descriptive methods
(induction of decision and model trees, rule learning, association rule
discovery, causal models, clustering), model evaluation, visual approaches.
Inductive logic programming and Multi-relational Data Mining:
recursive theory learning, generalization models and theory revision, relational
learning from numeric data, relational regression, relational association rules
and emerging patterns, relational clustering, propositionalization, relational
transductive learning. Symbolic data analysis: dissimilarity
measures, flexible matching, classification. Spatial Data
Mining: feature extraction from maps, map interpretation, spatial
classification/regression/association/clustering. Document image analysis
and recognition: applications of machine learning and data mining to
blocks classification, document classification, document understanding, layout
analysis, reading order detection. Web Mining: feature selection,
hierarchical and multidimensional classification of web documents.
Bioinformatics: applications of data mining methods to biomedial
literature, information extraction from biomedical texts. Network Traffic
Analysis: feature extraction, anomaly detection.
He is author
of more than 150 papers which have been published in international journals and
refereed Conference/Workshop Proceedings.
